Color blocking allows you to use up smaller felt scraps while practicing precise joining seams. Cut two different colored rectangles—for instance, mustard yellow and charcoal gray—and join them horizontally using an overlapping topstitch or zigzag stitch to create a single front panel. Pair it with a solid back panel, stitch the perimeter with a decorative blanket stitch, and finish the opening with a concealed zipper or magnetic snap.
